Black Men's Appreciation Day 2008

Our Foundation

It’s a time for change, a time for appreciation, a time for admiration and respect, and what better way to embrace this time than to appreciate the hands we stand on…our black men.

We need our black men. They are the hands we stand on. The next time you see a black man — city, suburb, or country, — SMILE and say hello. The next time a brother opens the door for you, SMILE and say thank you. If you are close enough, SMILE and ask “how are you doing today?”If a black man is living in your home and he gets up everyday and goes to face a world that doesn’t really want him there, when he comes home, let him know that you appreciate him.

This message has inspired the ladies of www.singleblackmale.net to start a movement of love and change.

Black Men Appreciation Day is about saying thank you, smiling, giving a gift, positive affirmation, hugs, kisses, or even saying 'I admire you' or 'I’m proud of you' or whatever you can think of to show appreciation to the black men you encounter.

On September 17, 2008 we will stand up and stand together in admiration and appreciation of our black men. They are not only our hands but also our foundation, and without this foundation our house will surely crumble. Remember, it only takes one person to start a movement…one person to initiate a change. Imagine the difference a multitude will make. Our black men deserve this, we deserve this. What good is a house without a strong foundation? Let’s strengthen our foundation. Together we will make a difference.

Please come back and share your responses you received and how you felt showing this love and appreciation.

Spread the word, spread the love…September 17th is now officially Black Men Appreciation Day!

Thank you, Honey.

It's always good to see black women show encouragement to the brothers which, hopefully, allows us to turn around and reciprocate the feeling.

Black Love is making a comeback, it appears.

You are more than welcome. I just want to let everyone know that we should appreciate each other more.

Black Love definitely needs to make a comeback.

I love the appreciation you showed in this. It shows that some of us (black men) are handling businees and trying to achieve greatness. Thank you for the love.

Good first step, But this is all a little late. BW have given BM their asses to kiss to long already. I doubt it can be repaired. And I already Know BM have moved on as are the women now.

"A women's group has declared today National Men's Day – to show them they are needed and appreciated.

"It is not about bashing men, it's not about making them look bad, it's not about labelling them as losers and dead beats or anything like that," said Margaret Giloth, the President of Women's group Phenomenal Women 9/13/08"

-for all the reasons Ms. Giloth listed, they are the SAME reasons that BM hearts are lost to BW (currently-who knows what the future holds). The bashing reached its climax w/ the DL propanda. That was it! BW since the feminist movement have put their gender above their race and the family has suffered under biased Family Court laws (which women pushed for) award SOLE custodial custody to black mothers but wont enforce vistation, if the father is lucky enough to get shared custody, and CS receipt records from Mothers. Thus the Nuclear Family is over. And BW did that. There is blame on both sides but ONE side has been getting all of the condemnation while yje other gets Diplomatic Immunity. Thats fosterd alot od resentment from men who have seen BW splinter the help that we both fought for during the Civil Rights Period. Now EVERYTHING is geared towards BW while men GOT NOTHING FOR THEIR EFFORTS. And the BW dont even seem to care about the boys though if the girls were struggling the same, the National guard would of been called out. I have lost my respect for BW though I still love them. Respect & honor is big with men and thats fractured.

IF BW are concerned about making a first step, look into the biased family court laws that have allowed more BW to legally push away black fathers and damage the children WAY more than any Dead Beat Father Hysteria (One legal the other is not, thus, which do you think is happening more?)

I do appreciate the sentiment and thats w/o sarcasm. Believe me, But, I'm sorry I cant continue to metabolize BW's VERY VOCAL disdain of us and make it love all of a sudden.

Thats not love

Thats Obama!

Society doesnt like men, BW have made it CLEAR they dont like men. There's nothing else to be said. All hail Women, you win, I'll leave. this is ALL a lil late. It really crystalized for me today. Michelle Malvow (sp?) president of the Independent Womens Forum ( BW) was on MSNBC with a few other commenters. She just HAD to say something for amoment bhut she "didnt want to get any angry emails from her sisters for saying it" She then proceeded to say how proud she was of the BM in this country to continue to persevere and try and strive and thank you." I damn near broke down! But then, THEN I became upset at the angry email part because I as well as every other black person watching knew it was true.

BM were the1st after Iowa to SUPPORT Barack. BW came slowly over the following mths. >Go Hillary< Once again Gender over their race.

Thats not love.

BW are gonna start realizing some things over the coming mths and yrs. Fortunately men didnt lodge a 40 yr public attack on their women. Thats bad karma. BW are waking up, slowly. But it'll never be the same between us. I'm resigned to be happy regardless. It just may require a different non-westernized feminist country.

Thanks in advance for the POST and the rant.
